1:1 Careers Guidance Sessions

Helping you make sense of work when life is complicated

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed or unsure what work might realistically look like at this point of your life, it can be difficult to know where to begin.

Whether you’re returning after a career break, balancing caring responsibilities, home educating your children, recovering from burnout, or wondering if a different direction might suit you better, careers guidance can help you make sense of your options and decide what comes next.

Together, we’ll explore your situation, your priorities and what’s realistically possible, without pressure to have all the answers.

What can careers guidance help with?

Careers guidance can help you turn a difficult, messy or uncertain work situation into clearer questions, options and next steps.

Together we might:

  • Make sense of a difficult or uncertain work situation

  • Explore what you want, need and can realistically do at this stage of your life

  • Look at how caring responsibilities, home education, burnout, neurodivergence disabilities or other health factors affect what is sustainable

  • Identify work that fits your skills, strengths, values and current circumstances

  • Investigate different types of employment, self-employment or a slower return to work

  • Build confidence after a career break, burnout or a significant life change

  • Work through practical barriers and explore different ways forward

  • Develop a realistic plan for moving towards work at a pace that feels manageable

  • Prepare CVs, applications and interviews when you’re ready

How many sessions will I need?

The answer depends on what you’d like to achieve.

If you’re looking for support with a specific task, such as interview preparation, a single session may be enough.

However, if you’re exploring what work might realistically look like, thinking about a longer-term career change, or trying to work out your next steps after a career break, I usually recommend booking a block of three sessions and then reviewing together. For many people, this provides the time and space to explore different options, develop a clear plan and build confidence before taking action.

About the sessions

Format
All sessions take place on Zoom and last 60 minutes.

Cost
Individual sessions: £60
Block of three sessions: £150

Before we meet
Before your first session, I’ll send you a short questionnaire so I can understand your background and what you’d like to get from our time together.

After the session (optional)
I provide an optional recording, transcript and a detailed session summary.

Flexible scheduling
I understand that caring responsibilities, school attendance, health and family life can be unpredictable. We can space them in whatever way works best for you, and if life happens and you need to rearrange a session, I’ll always do my best to accommodate that.

  • 60-minute online session via Zoom

  • Practice interview tailored to your desired role

  • Detailed personalised feedback on your responses, communication and body language

  • Neurodivergent-friendly support, including discussion of reasonable adjustments, disclosure and interview strategies where relevant

  • Session recording and transcript

  • Detailed AI-assisted feedback report (optional)

What happens during the session?

Sessions are flexible and can be tailored to your individual needs.

We’ll typically begin with a realistic practice interview tailored to your situation and the type of role you’re targeting.

I’ll then provide detailed feedback on your answers, communication style and overall interview performance, followed by time to discuss any questions, concerns or interview strategies that would be helpful for you.

After the session, you will receive a copy of the session recording and transcript, and the feedback report, if requested.

Ready to explore your next steps?

If you’d like to find out whether careers guidance could help, the best place to start is with a free 20–30 minute Zoom chat. It’s an opportunity to tell me a bit about your situation, ask any questions you have and see whether working together feels like it would be helpful. There’s no pressure to book anything afterwards.

About Me

I’m Helen Buzdugan, a late-diagnosed AuDHD-er, parent carer to two neurodivergent children, a home educator to my youngest, and a specialist careers adviser.

My own experience of navigating the education system, alongside my work supporting young people and families, informs the way I work with my clients. I understand that career decisions don’t happen in isolation from the rest of life, particularly when you’re caring for a disabled child, home educating, recovering from burnout or trying to balance competing responsibilities.

As a qualified careers adviser with more than 20 years’ experience, I’ve supported thousands of adults and young people in schools, universities and private practice. I hold a Master’s degree in Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance, and I’m a UK Registered Career Development Professional (RCDP).

Today, I specialise in supporting parent carers, neurodivergent and disabled adults and others who are trying to make career decisions in complex circumstances, helping them make sense of their options and decide what comes next.
